Gantry v3.2.16 menu items not showing if special/registered

Hello,
Using Gantry v3.2.16 on RT_Zephyr for Joomla 2.5.1...
If I use the built-in menu support via the template configuration and set a menu item on the main navigation bar to Special or Public it won't consistently display. Then, it persists even if the user is public and logged out. I have disabled cache and this persists. Interestingly, if I disable menu support and make a rok_navmenu module position in the navigation position, it functions normally.

This is an issue with the Joomla global cache.
Switching off the global cache solves the problem.
However, you cannot exclude the menu from caching when controlled by the Gantry template config. You can only do this with roknav in a module position. Does anyone know how to exclude the menu from cache when controlled by Gantry configuration?
