Where to put .eot and .ttl fonts in Gantry Template

Some previoius tutorials for Gantry-based Rockettheme templates said to put fonts in format .eot and ttl into the /fonts directory in the relevant template directory.
In the rt_gantry template... there is no font directory. Does one merely create it, and then deal with the additiion in template-options.xml? That does not seem to work.
