Bug in Kunena because of "Build Titles Spans"

Posted 12 years 6 months ago
    • When the parameter "Build Titles Spans" is turned on, the message headers are messed up in Kunena. The link and styling is removed.

I found this thread about the same problem : www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=39...13867&rb_v=viewtopic
It's 2 years old and marked as solved. But it's not solved at all. The solution is only a workaround, not a fix. The file gantry-buildspans.js is causing some HTML tags to be striped out. It should only add some more styling, not remove styling and links! Yes I can disable it, but how much time did we all lose trying to figure out what the problem is.

      Can you please fix this?
      Thanks in advance!

PS: I have all the latest versions : Gantry 4.0.5, Hybrid template 1.6.6, Joomla 2.5.7, Kunena 2.0.2.

    • We don't use that feature anymore in newer templates.
We will leave it just as it is in older templates it would just cause more confusion if we would change the behavior.

    • It doesn't matter if you don't use that feature in newer templates. Older templates are still being used and this feature is broken. It's part of Gantry, so one fix will fix all templates that still use this feature.

    • it's not broken at all ... so it won't be fixed. Some will use it it and some not.

Personally I dont think it's so clever to use too much html markup in h2 tags.
Thats symatically not 100% correct as "h" in h1 stands for "Headlines" and it shoudln't be used as a structural element like a container.

The feature just works as it should. You could exclude h2 tags from being affected (quite a fee posts here in the forum about that) or you could disable on a per-menu-item-basis.

"Broken" means for me something is not working as it should.
But this does work as it should.
Some extensions don't work with this feature. That's why you can disable this.
We never promised that all features in our templates work 100% with all 3rd party-extensions.

    • Fine, don't fix it !
I understand that all features may not work 100% with all extensions. That would be impossible to guarantee. But when somebody reports a problem with a very popular extension, maybe you could do something instead of givings excuses about how the h2 tag is not properly used.
