How to make the displayModule in template respect ACL

Scenario: I want to test a chat standalone application out on my server and just want a few users to get it.
Normally I can set up a module for most components and set the ACL from the joomla admin. In this case though the chat simply ataches to the body tag using js injection - so I need also to hack into that to find where that happens or I run more javascript to remove and put it on my new special position that is unavailable to most users.
I wonder can I do this at gantry level in the template files...
<?php echo $gantry->displayModules('tcgchat','standard','standard'); ?>
I want this to be available to the 'special' users only...or any group preferably that I can set in the admin...
