Popup button must only be seen by members

We use a button to launch a popup containing a search form.
The popup button on/off display an contents are set via the gantry back-end template admin system (in this case Lumiere is the template)
However, we only want the button to be visible for logged in members.
The search form is already restricted to logged in members, but that means that if a guest clicks on the button, a popup will show with a ajax wheel that spins forever, which gives the impression that the search is broken.
So...how do we make the button only display for logged in members? - Effective, affordable & hassle free websites for big-thinking small business.

- You could load the button in a module, then restricts access to the module. The loadposition plugin would help. That's the easiest method I can think of.
