Future Templates with more featuritis ?

Posted 9 years 2 months ago
    • HI -
i want to say that i dont like the particle system at all and i dont see any need for that. its just making templates more and more complicated and heavier. i dont need a "feature" cms around a cms. can you please return to make good looking easy loading templates for the joomla cms without overloading and joomla standart features ?

    • How is it overloading?

      1. We don't include every particle in every template
      2. You don't have to use any of the particles if you don't want to.
      3. Members are asking us for these features and new particles - so we're responding to requests.
      4. We use particles because they are platform agnostic. Gantry 5 runs on Joomla, Wordpress, and soon Grav. Another reason for using particles is that they are much easier to develop and understand as they are plain text. In fact, many members are creating their own particles of modifying the ones we provide (with overrides).
      5. I think we are producing good looking templates (as we always have) - certainly that;s the positive feedback we're getting from our members. Of course, not everyone is going to like every template. We try to come up with new looks and features for every template that has always been RT's reputation.

No, we won't be returning to just using Joomla modules, or wordpress widgets...

If your don't like what Gantry 5 and it's templates have to offer then you can continue to use Gantry 4 and our extensive portfolio of templates and extensions. There's nothing wrong with Gantry 4 and it's not going anywhere soon.

      Regards, Mark.
