disable links in dropdown until revealed

Posted 4 years 1 week ago
    • When I double click on my dropdown menu open it sometimes goe to one of the links in the dropdown before the dropdown has displayed.

The link in the dropdown that is clicked comes directly under the parent link.

For instance on this site when you double lick the About menu option it will go to the SoundCheck which is in the dropdown directly under the about link as it opens.

This only appears to be happening in Chrome.

How can I prevent this happending is someone was to double click a menu item?

    • I can't think of anyway to prevent that. It's basically the animation when the sublevel passes over as it drops down with the z-index stacking (required). The classes have all changed as the point of the first click so there's no way to detect that the animation is still in-flight and prevent the click of the module with the soundcheck link.

    • Thanks Mark. That is what I feared. Would there be a way to make sure the main links remains on top so the dropdown links animated under the main link?

Or maybe is there a way to mask the dropdown links?

    • But you want the dropdown to come over the top of the navigation so the stacking order is what you wanted (as put in your CSS). Yes you can change the stacking order (even that is tricky) but then the dropdown would appear from beneath the navigation which isn't what you wanted is it? You can't mask anything based upon the change in classes because the state changes instantly you do the first click... you don't know that the animation is still in-flight.
