Gantry Menu Item Control ineffective with new menu items

Hello,
I am using the Dominion template, and have a usermenu publishing to sidebar-a with main content to the right. Using the Gantry Menu Items controls, I successfully set the Mainbody Positions like this- Position: 2: sa/mb.
However, when I add a new item to this menu, and try to apply the same Mainbody Positions, it causes one of my existing menu items to revert to a Mainbody Position default like this- Positions: 1; mb/sa. When I correct it, one of the other menu items will then revert, putting me into an endless loop.
My params.ini file is writable. I cannot what version of Gantry is installed to determine whether updating is necessary. I'm on Joomla version 1.5.15.

it's not in root/changelog.php but in
root/components/com_gantry/CHANGELOG.php

- Yes, I DID look there first, but there is no such directory. So, I checked the root also, just to be sure. But there is definitely no root/components/com_gantry directory. Is this possible?

sorry, from your answer: "and there is no mention of it in the root CHANGELOG.php" i assumed you were looking at the joomla core changelog.php.
if you don't have root/components/com_gantry, then your gantry version must be either 2.0 or 1.0.
can you check your rt_dominion_j15/lib folder and tell me which files and folders are located there?

Sorry... I overlooked that detail.
The /lib directory includes: folder-Gantry and index.html. I opened the enclosed gantry.php files, and they are all version 2.0.4.

so your version is gantry 2.0, we also had 2.5 and now 3.0 already, so an update would be great.
please do not forget to take a backup of your site, then follow the instructions given here.
it describes the update from 2.0 to 2.5, but from 2.0 to 3.0 should be the same.

paying attention to the details is important.
to understand the file structure better i also highly recommend that you install a brandnew dominion rocketlauncher in a subdirectory or on a test site, so you can compare the folders to your other install. if you dont have a valid membership, you can download the gantry rocketlauncher instead of the dominion rocketlauncher.
