Can't change some position Gantry

    • Hello.
      Joomla 1.5.22
      Gantry 3.1.10
      template rt_tachyon_j15

Some positions are not changing. Such as "mainbody" and "mainbottom" sure.
      Lets explain what I mean:
      1. Creating two modules in "Showcase" position.
      2. go to layouts in gantry, choose 2 and play with slider to customize width
      > Apply, all works well, modules on front page change their width according gantry settings.

      next:
      1. Creating one module ( I try also with 2 and 3) at "sidebar-a(b-c)" position. And have some test articles at "mainbody"
      2. go to layouts in gantry, choose 2 and play with slider to customize width
      3. all looks well in gantry, but nothing change at main page. Picture in gantry shows me that I have two modules, and it 9|3 width, but it's not so in real, front page show me 8|4 what ever I do.

All other modules works well ( may be I'm not check all positions, but most of them OK)

honestly I'm already mad about this
hope some one can help me with it

      regards

    • Hello:

Now is this always taking place on the frontpage? Because you can select separate menu pages to adjust modules in gantry templates. It's the orange box right above the style selector.

This is beneficial if you have a sidebar location for example on all your inner pages and not your frontpage. You would then need to select the menu button in the orange box and select the menus/menu items you would like to edit the layouts under.

I hope that was some help. If you already knew this, well then nevermind. :-)

I too can not change my main body postitions. I found posts on ftp, changed it, found info on code for controller.php, did that and still NOTHING!!!!

I can change othe modules positions, other info but Main body positions WILL NOT CHANGE

      and obvious I'm not alone.

Jeff, thanks for the info but i'm aware of that.

    • I just don't understand the statement "Because you can select separate menu pages to adjust modules in gantry templates. It's the orange box right above the style selector." I do not see an orange box above a style selector. Can you be more specific. In what area are referring to?

Yeah, I am not always the best one to explain things, so let's try an image :cheesy:

You'll notice that in the main orange section you have two buttons available: "Defaults" and "Menu Items". Clicking on "Menu Items" will change all the menu items beneat to have a checkbox next to them, allowing you to enable or disable and customize each per the menu item selected in the drop down just to the right of the buttons.

This is in Joomla 1.5, and for me looks same in standard admin theme and MissionControl theme.

    • The Template Manager screen looks completely different in Joomla 1.6. The available documentation seems to describe only Joomla 1.5 versions.

I have not managed to move the sidebar to the left side by modifying the layout, even though the menu items are assigned correctly. The settings simply do not change, and I have made sure the Gantry cache and the Joomla cache are off and the browser cache is cleaned.

In Joomla 1.6 it is not clear where the modified layout settings are stored. In Joomla 1.5 they seem to be stored in the file params.ini which obviously needs to be writable. I tested updating the layout for MainBody, MainTop and MainBottom, but the settings do not get updated.

I am running Apache on Windows server, using the Wamp bundle which works well. When I change the properties of the file params.ini and deselect the R flag to make the file writable, the message "The parameter file \templates\rt_gantry_j15\params.ini is unwritable!" disappears from the Template Manager. As soon as the settings have supposedly changed, the Read Only flag is turned on and the message about the file being unwritable returns. However, the settings have not been updated. Gantry in Joomla 1.5 seems to have exactly the same problem under Windows.

I have been running different versions of Joomla and extensions using Wamp without problems, but the Gantry template and/or the framework do not quite seem to work in this environment.
