Gantry error....can't edit template

I'm getting the following error when attempting to edit my template from the template manager:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_ereg_match() in /home/xxxxxxxxx/public_html/components/com_gantry/admin/phpQuery.php on line 1834
I'm running Joomla 1.5.22, Gantry 3.1.4, and the template is syndicate 1.5.1
Can anyone lend a hand?

Hi there,
What version of PHP are you running? We suggest 5.2.+ with 64mb of memory.
