SOLVED Making external url links relative

Posted 9 years 11 months ago
    • Is it possible to use some kind of link syntax in the Menu Manager External url link setting to create a link that is relative to the site?
I'm thinking why do I have to keep changing this when I shift the site between subdomains and main domains and localhost and WAN servers.
      Just asking...

    • If you don't put domain part in the external link text field, it will always be relative to the website no matter on which domain website works

    • Perhaps I've not explained very well.
I mean that if I use an address of say /folder1 as the url but then move to a subdomain called test.domain, the url becomes say /test/folder1 and I was hoping to avoid having to change it each time it moves.

    • Try to use only "folder1" instead of "/folder1"

    • Interesting - thank you.
This works even when the url entry is blank (to go to the root). I assumed that a blank entry would be rejected.

    • When you use "fodler1" you are using relative path and when you use "/folder1" you are using absolute path
