  • SOLVED Problem with installation of Gantry 5 Framework and Template

    • Hi,

      Apologies if this is a common/simple problem dealt with elsewhere but having searched I can’t find a thread dealing with my specific issue which is simply to do with initial installation Gantry.

      I recently installed Gantry 5 – and same is shown in within Components menu of Joomla Back End.

      I also installed a gantry template – Scirocco – and same is displayed in Template Manager.

      However:

      1) When I change the default template to the Scirocco template, the live website returns a blank page.
      2) When I enter the Gantry 5 Themes component – it claims there are “No Themes Installed”

      Prior to installing the Gantry items, the site was a relatively new (past month) installation of Joomla 3.4.1 using PHP version 5.5.20 and MySQL Datatabase 5.5.35 and Protostar template.

      The following extensions appear to have been successfully installed.

    • Sirocco will not work with Gantry 5... it is a Gantry 4 Template... if it's a new site, I'd HIGHLY recommend you use the RocketLauncher package on blank webspace and an empty database to install everything, including the demo content

      Only Callisto and the Free Hydrogen are available for Gantry 5 beta right now... a new G5 template and G5.0 (I think) will be out in about a week or so

      Never occurred to me that Gantry 5 wasn't necessarily backward compatible with older templates. I downgraded to Gantry 4 and problem
      resolved.

      The site is fairly new - few enough articles that I can backup text and recreate them from scratch quickly enough - so I'll probably take your advice and use Rocket Launcher option.
