SOLVED Custom (or borrowed) Particles

    • Hello,

I love the new Gantry 5 framework, the issue I have is I also like certain particles from Callisto, and others from Ethereal (I knew this would happen). So, long story short I thought I'd "borrow" (copy) the particles I'd like to use from Ethereal over to Callisto. For example the Horizontal Menu, numberheadline and one other list type.

I have all of my custom particle files and scss in a custom folder at the template level, no issue there. Got it, all working. I also see how to create new particles, got that. But in wanting to re-use particles already so perfectly created in another template I did the following:

Added the particle yaml and twig file to Custom folder in their appropriate folders. They work perfectly. But here is where I am having an issue, I know I could create the styles myself, but they are already in the other template so I was using an @import and keeping all the _particletype.scss in the custom scss folder then using @import to call the particle specific scss file. Not working... I know it is probably simple, but what am I missing?

*also noticed the particlemixins file, and brought those styles over also...

      Step one: particle.yaml file
      Step two: particle.html.twig file

Which scss files do I need for a specific particle, and where is the best place to add them?

Maybe a small edition to your custom particle documentation? I imagine others might be like me and go hey! I love that horizontal menu particle, my template needs it, but how do I easily grab all the css for it.

      Thanks so much!

    • It's not an easy process at all - we know this needs improving and we're working on the ability to import/export particles to make them portable. In the mean time what you are asking for is really a customisation work that we can't do for you within the scope of this support forum. That said, someone else asked a similar question the other day and, out of curiosity, I figured out what needed doing - but it took me a long time to work it out. Here is a link to the topic that should help you to achieve what you are attempting. http://www.rockettheme.com/forum/joomla-template-callisto-solved-threads/243365-solved-using-ethereal-gallery-in-callisto .

    • That actually helped alot...

What I was missing was that key piece, the other dependencies:

      2. you need to import all the dependencies in your custom/scss/custom.scss file like this...

Portable particles would be amazing. But I can understand not having each and everyone in every template.

This framework is amazingly easy to use. Thanks again, it is working perfectly after I grabbed a couple more files needed.
