SOLVED Will be really useful to Append/copy Section and/or Particles

Posted 8 years 9 months ago
    • I know about Inheritance, really useful, but with the only 2 choice of “Clone” & “Inherit” you can’t simplt append/copy element without replacing what is already there.

I was trying to simply make a multilingual Error outline, in this case I need to import multiple modules and particles that should be double in my Error sections. No way to simply append them from both my existing French and English main Outlines. One or the other, but no way to add both.

    • That's not true. You can create a particle on your layout and then have that inherit all the configuration from another particle on a different outline (i.e. do the inherit at particle level instead of section level).

    • “On a different” Outline, but not on the same.

That give me an Idea, MrT, I can append my other languages Section/Particles in another Section and simply move it to my section where I need double. I will try that and come back....

I think you should have a possibility to “ADD”

That will be —> Inherit - Clone - Add

    • Clone is "Add"? I don't understand what you mean. In any case, you asked about this the other day and I gave you the best method, i.e. to create a module position on the error outline and then assign language specific modules to that position. There no need to be altering the error outline (apart from adding the module position).

      Regards, Mark.

If I understand well if I Clone, as example, a set of english modules/particles it will replace whatever is in the section. If I want to “ADD” another set (French Module/particles) to the same section using “Clone” it will replace my previous english set, not adding them.

As I was saying, you give me the idea to just import my french set in another empty section and symply drag them to the section where I want both french & english modules/particles

Well, what I was tring to do don’t work as with the system of inheritance only the section choosen to received the inheritance from the other Outline.

Meaning that I will have to recreate manually one of the language modules/particle.
