SOLVED Single website managed with different gantry5 templates

    • I wondered if it were is possible the use of different types of templates in the same web site.
Considering the present great implementation with the background video, contained in the latest published templates (as citadel), I thought to load one to let him manage certain sections (pages) of a website that is currently managed with the kraken template.
The idea would be a kraken website with some sections managed with the citadel.
      It 'a possible structure?

    • It is possible to use multiple Gantry 5 templates on one site but, honestly, I wouldn't because there are limitations.

      1. Gantry 5 particle module will only present particles from the "default" template (marked in template manger with star). so you'll be forever switching the default template to manage/edit particles in module manager.
      2. you can't inherit across templates - they are completely separate so you would end up having to duplicate content (for particles directly on the layout) unless you used wholely modules assigned to module positions that existed in the outlines for both templates.
      3. Overrides would be taken from the template that is being used to render the page... this might get confusing if you have overrides in both templates.
      4. unless you use the new Gantry 5 plugin feature to store images in the joomla root (it's a new settings) your images would be stored in the template folders and the other template wouldn't look for them in that location.
      5. changing templates in a site often leads to a bad user experience too when the layout changes styling between pages.

In short, I wouldn't do it, everything gets too confusing and inefficient.

      Regards, Mark.
