SOLVED Module positions vs Particles layout

Posted 2 years 11 months ago
    • Is the Gantry's template particle layout canvas the basis for J! template module positions? In other words: should I start with creating/naming the first and only then position/refer the J! template modules to it?

    • huh?

Not really sure what you mean there? The "default" outline will be used by all pages unless another outline is assigned specifically. On the layout of ANY outline you can create a "module position" just by dragging and dropping (from the side panel on the left) onto the layout. Then, you go into the settings of that module position and give it a "key" (a.k.a a module position name), then you can assign any module you like to that module position (in joomla module manager).

Gantry 5 comes with several layout presets (different types of layout) - you can load these via the "LOAD" button (top left of you outline layout) but do heed any warning messages as you can existing content by changing layout. One of those layout presets is called "Gantry 4" and that already has most of the common module positions on the layout that you would be familiar with.

Honestly though, I would try to use Gantry 5 in the way it's intended and not try to make it work like Gantry 4.

      Regards, Mark.
