SOLVED Particle in a Joomla Module or shortcode

Posted 3 years 4 months ago
    • Hello,
New client on Rocketheme, I am discovering Gantry 5 and doing tests for the moment on the Helium template.
I am using particles for the moment only to define positions (and menu + logo ...). These positions are used to place my Joomla modules (with the particule "Module Position"). It works well and efficiently.
I am now looking to use particles like, for example, "Contents Tab" or "OWL Carousel".
But I don't want these particles to appear on every page of the site.

I of course read this docs.gantry.org/gantry5/particles/module-instance and this docs.gantry.org/gantry5/particles/page-content and video here https: // youtu .be / e-I1KQLPB9c

1 A / Is it possible to assign a particle to a single Joomla module? I understand that yes with the particle "module instance"?
1 B / In this case where to place this particles (for example, "Contents Tab") in the Layout page? In the Off Canvas section for example or elsewhere?

2 A / Is it possible with a shortcode to insert a particle directly into an article? How?

All this is not yet clear to me ...

      Thanks

    • 1A. yes. You can create a Gantry 5 particle module (and choose the particle within that) - think of it as a wrapper - and then you can assign that module to a module position like any other (and also by menu item too if you want). Or, you can create additional outlines and assign them to a specific page and place the particles directly on the layout of that outline. You can also use Gantry 5 "inheritance" to avoid having to maintain "common" aspects of your pages on multiple outline (e.g. navigation menu, logo, footer, copyrioght, etc).

1B - see above answer - "offcanvas" is the section that shows the mobile menu so that's really nothing to do with what your asking about.

      2. You can use joomla's own "loadposition" or "loadmodule" - see joomla docs. Bear in mind that there are a small number of particles where this does not work because of load order. Also, I don't recommend embedding any particles or modules in articles at all as it makes a site very hard to maintain. They should be placed on the layout or in module positions.

      Regards, Mark.

    • Thanks for your answer.
You can create a Gantry 5 particle module (and choose the particle within that) - think of it as a wrapper - and then you can assign that module to a module position like any other (and also by menu item too if you want)
So I create a particule "module position" (for ex "main-bottom-tabcontent-1-fr) where I want that the, for example, "Tab Content" Particule appears on the website. Then I drop the specific particle (for ex "Tab Content") in this Gantry particule module position.
And after I create a Joomla Module on this position ("main-bottom-tabcontent-1-fr) to controle in witch page of my menu and/or language it will appears.
But what kind of Joomla module do I have to create (custon html, else)?
      Thanks
      Regards

    • No. Call the position something that meaningful as a position (not what content you decide to put in it) e.g. "main-bottom-x"

The you create a new module of type "Gantry 5 particle", then when you go into that module in joomla module manager you choose the particular type of particle that you want (and set up all it's settings). Then you can assign that module to "main-bottom-x". You can then also go to the assignments tab (in the module) and assign it to a particular menu item if you wish (or just leave it as "all pages") - just like any other module.

      Regards, Mark.

    • Ok I understand now my error.
After create a module position from the Gantry layout, I was trying to create the Content Tabs particule from the Gantry layout despite from the Joomla Module > Gantry Module.
Thanks a lot for your help and reactivity. It's useful.
