IP address is breaking my dev sites

  • IP address is breaking my dev sites

Posted 8 years 4 months ago
    • Before I point a domain to a dev site Gantry 5 is breaking the IP address view.
For example accessipd.com is the domain name
50.97.150.211/~accessip/ is the IP address but you can see something is broken.

    • What do you have the rewritebase set to in your .htaccess file? It looks wrong to me.

    • Not sure how that works - in my .htaccess I have:

      # RewriteBase /

      Should that be different?

    • This is only happening t my Gantry 5 sites, my Gantry 4 sites are fine.
And it's happening to all my Gantry 5 sites.
They all have the same Rewritebase

    • Honestly I don't know why it's not working but it's nothing to do with Gantry 5. Your live_site variable was wrong in configuration.php anyway. You need to use a proper domain name. I can't even access the admin screen.

    • I do use a proper domain name - the domain is accessipd.com and the admin works juts fine.
I need this feature when I am developing a new site so I can show the dev stages.
It must be Gantry 5 because all my Gantry 5 sites are doing this, and none of my others are.

My problem also is that I am moving about 30 websites to a new SP - I'd really like to be sure everything is working before I switch the DNS... That seems reasonable to me.

    • The best way of checking a site on a new server location is to set it up on that new server then make an entry in your local hosts file to point the domain (proper) at the IP of your new server. I do that myself a lot and have never had any issues with that method.
