When using Gantry 5 and the helium template. The normal desktop version of the menu flashes up for a second while the pages loads before disapearing and the expected mobile menu appears.
Is there a way to hide the full menu so it doesn't flash on the screen?
Please would you post your URL, superuser id and pswd in the secure tab of your post and I'll have a look for you.

You have many images in your slideshow and they're all big image files. They need to be optimised for web use and the dimensions need to be no bigger than can actually be shown in your web page (1900px is too wide - 1200px would suffice). As a result you have to wait for all those images to download before the CSS/JS kicks in to change the view.
What will also help, is to use system cache "conversative" (global configuration), gzip compression (Global configuration) and a compressor (such as our rokbooster or JCH_Optimize).
Rokbooster has to be tuned to your particular environment and extensions - this is not something we can do for you as part of this support forum. I encourage you to read the rokbooster documentation to learn how to add exclusions and change the many other settings in rokbooster. Once tuned rokbooster will speed up your site so it's worth the effort.

Ok so you've now also enabled cache and gzip and used a compressor - that was quick...
Images size was just one of my points.
