Template not showing properly when set to 777 but 755 is ok

Posted 14 years 11 months ago
    • For GZip purpose, on my server, I have to set some dir to 777.
      That's ok.

Except for these two dirs :
      templates/rt_solarsentinel_j15/css
      modules/mod_rokstories/tmpl

When set to 755, the template shows properly

When set to 777, the template does not show properly :
      - the rockstories do not show the big image
      - the articles are squeezed to 100px or so at the right.

How is it possible that adding rights (755 to 777) pulls a template down ?

    • Hello Pachat !

any folder set at 777 is invitation to be hack.

If you have problem with file or folder permission.

      I would contact your host.

If Suphp or fastCGI is install

If yes to set it up for your domain and fix the perm.

    • Thank you for your replies

Before having to contact my host, what do you think of this solution, found here
      docs.joomla.org/Security_Checklist_7

      --
To protect directories that seemed to need 777 permissions to run or as a default in your images/media folder try this code within a .htaccess file within the open folder.
      # secure directory by disabling script execution
AddHandler cgi-script .php .pl .py .jsp .asp .htm .shtml .sh .cgi
      Options -ExecCGI

      especially in your images folder
