    Browser Compatibility Issues

    Posted 14 years 11 months ago
    • My company has a mixture of Windows 2000 (IE5/IE6), Windows XP (IE7) and Windows 7 (IE8) workstations.

      We have an old intranet site, made internally with html and php scripts, which displays correctly on older browsers, and a newer intranet site running Joomla and one of your RT themes. The offices running IE 5, 6 and 7 are set up with the old intranet site as home page. When we upgrade an office to Windows 7 we set their home page to the newer Joomla site.

      However this means that we currently have to maintain two sites. I would like to do one of the following;

      1. Is there an RT theme that will work fine on IE5?
      or
      2. Ideally, is it possible to use clever script or Joomla extension that loads the newer/nicer theme when the client is IE7/IE8 and loads a simpler Joomla theme when the client is IE5 or IE6?

      Looks-wise what we are looking for here is something along the lines of the Versatility themes.

    • RT announced 'IE6 End of Life at Rockettheme' here:

      www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=2&...t=IE6&rb_v=viewtopic

      So I don't think IE5 support is possible.

      You may be able to get support for some of the IE6 in pre-Gantry templates.

      At this point most of the pre-Gantry and Gantry templates have an IE6 warning message that can be toggled on or off in the Template Manager.
