Hi,
How do you hide a tab from the main menu so it doesn't appear, but still have articles that a linked to working in the background?

I think you can unpublish any menu except 'Home' and have it work without a problem.
As long as you can link to them, even though the menu isn't published, they should still show, I've done something similar in the past:

Thx Jem,
I did work out that if you make the menu a 'user menu' it doesn't pop up anywhere as a menu but still let's you have articles sitting in the background with links to them.
