SSL / https / ecommerce in wrapper with browser support?
Posted 18 years 1 month ago
Hi everyone, I've searched for a while on a solution to having a secure ecommerce site wrapped in a Joomla! main site.
Does anyone have current info on possibly getting this to function in 1.0.12?
Here is the situation:
Joomla main site, http for normal operations
Wrapped OSCommerce site in http until checkout, then toggles to https
Would be fine for whole site to switch to https during checkout, then back to http, if sessions don't get messed up, etc.
I am trying to get the lock enabled on the browser when someone buys a product (which starts the moment they click "Checkout"). I "think" it is passing SSL in the background. I understand the browser is still seeing the main site as http, thus not locking. So, if the customer doesn't know it's locked - they won't buy. I wouldn't either!
Anybody got a solution?
If this is impossible, I can just make the store open in a new window. I just really like the wrapped look & feel.
Also found this reference thread linked from the Joomla site, and all the solutions look plausible, but I'm no PHP programmer. Does any of this seem workable?

If anyone has any updated knowledge about pulling this off, that sure would be great !!
