I haven't shared a lot about myself, but I thought that I should now.
My name is Robert D. Wagers and I am 37 years old. I have been married for 17 years to my wonderful wife Andrea. I have three children, Matt(16), Zach(10) and Allison(2months).
In college, I began building IBM Clones and selling them on the side. In those days, 100mb hard drive was "STATE OF THE ART" technology. I began my tinkering into programming by learning BASIC, C+ and MS DOS. I ran a bulletin board called Moon Man BBS and at one point, I was very computer savvy for the time. That was before the "force-fed" days and over-exposure to windows. I wrote many custom DOS Shell programs using DOS and Basic, but those days eventually came to an end when nearly all computers quit using DOS and began using windows. After that I pretty much lost interest and since there wasn't much need for DOS Shells and other DOS-based scripts... I gave it up!
I graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU) in 1992 with a degree in Business Administration. I worked several years managing businesses for other people and . I have managed businesses that range from Retail Stores to a Tile/Building Materials Distributor. In 2001, I decided to give up "working for other people" and wanted something different. Later that year, I began working for a Chemical Manufacturer as an Remote Corporate Sales Rep. I really loved this job, mostly because I was allowed to work out of my home from a home-office. I enjoyed the freedom and responsibility that came with this job.
In the spring of 2005, I was suddenly diagnoses with cancer. i took a leave of absence from my job and went through 9 months of chemo and radiation. Immediately after the treatment and before the Doctors advised me to, I returned to work; mostly out of my dedication to my job, my customers and my company. On March 7th 2006, we had our normally scheduled quarterly sales meeting scheduled in Atlanta, Ga. The Vice-President of the company got up in front of the 325 Sales Staff, Managers and other Staff, and announced the Companies' President and Owner has decided to Shut-down their North American Operation and Exit the Market. That meant we were all suddenly out of work.
Ultimately, it wasn't a big problem for me because I had been recruited by several competitors on numerous occasions and I knew it would be fairly easy to find another job. I actually began work a month later for a competitor and didn't skip a beat. I was off like a rocket signing up new business and converting alot of my old customers to the new company when suddenly....
My cancer came back!
The diagnosis was a bit less optimistic this time, since we were dealing with a recurrence and because the chemo treatments the year prior wasn't as successful as hoped. I was facing another year, at minimum, of high-dose chemotherapy and all the complications that come with it.
Well, it has been a year now and tomorrow, i travel to Vanderbilt University Med Center to begin an arduous Bone-Marrow Transplant. I will be there for approximately 3-4 months while I undergo this procedure.
I am not sure if I will have any access to the Internet while I am in the hospital, so I may be out for a while.
Cheers and see you guys on the other side!

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
