I know 5$ is worth nothing but I don't have much money and if we sum up: hosting services, RT + others, it's a lot of money for me for a site for which I'm not gonna be paid.
I've taken a look at Events Calendar, seems very good and is REALLY free!
I start using Jcalpro really good but now im using the SMF calendar work like a charm no extra stuff to install and you can link the forums post to events.
If you really want to use Jcal Pro and not pay $5 - you can still get the code by using a SVN repository tool and downloading the package sources. Jcal pro provides a fee based download service, but the source code is still under GPL...
Then either create the packages yourself or upload the source files to your server and install using the 'install from directory' option
I guess I don't agree. I wanted to check out the latest version of the product - to see if it had changed enough to meet my needs. So I got the latest SVN version - what any developer woud do.
By paying a fee, you're really supporting his download service, not the developer or the product. It's a fee to evaluate. Not even Msoft charge you to evaluate :-;
If you do then use the product, there's no reason not to support the product. It's GPL after all.
BTW, I'm going to stick with Jevents. Just off to get some more coffee.
Gareth, thanks for the tip but I'll stay with Jevents
And thank you Joe for your comment. If I personally say I've got not much money, that's all I'm saying. 3$ for a coffee? First, I don't like coffee. But all days I have to have diner at fast food restaurants or at one restaurant I know where menu is 5.15€. Yes, I'm **** rich. Are you gonna say another funny thing? That's just incredible.
Support developper? I say support GPL. When I use a product and I'm satisfied with it, I make a donation (yes, that's the way).
One thing about posting in a forum, no one can tell the tone with which you comment. My comment was meant lightheartedly and like I said, in my own personal experience. If you choose to take offense, go for it....but that is not how it was meant.
