Hi Guys,
while im waiting for the new template release, i thought about gathering some information about speed enhancement of RT templates.
As im going to release my website on monday to the public, im a bit concerned about the speed of my installation but more about the template.
Currently my site is hosted at hostgator, they have the best service and really great plans. But here comes something which i dont like: The response time of the server. Im based in Germany and my website will be mostly visited from europe. So i dont know if this would be the best solution as i know that HG has only a datacenter in Texas. To reduce the response time, i guess i should get a hoster in europe. But yeah, its not that easy to find a real good one like HG.
So i will take a look what i can find in europe. Rackspacecloud sounds good, but investing over 120$ a month for a website which will be released just this monday, seems a bit to high, at least for me.
Do you have any recommendations?
Im using the zephyr template and using yslow gives me always a Grade F which is not really good. After i have chosen to use the static css in gantry backend and enabling rokgzipper, it gives me a Grade E.
So the question here is, what can i do to improve this?
How many times can i use GZIP compression? On HGs backend i have the option to optimize the website which will use GZIP as i think. Next, in Joomla Admin backend, i have the option to GZIP content to YES. Now i can use rokgzipper to gzip the stuff as well.
You see, i have many GZIP options to choose from, but i dont think enabling all will give me benefits but maybe some troubles.
Any idea what would be the best here?
Right, i hope some of you could give me some ideas or how you have managed to get your site fast.

thanks for your reply!
I had to switch off at least rokzipper, it was destroying my jomsocial template and it made my site slow. When i switched it off, it was faster.
I will take a look on your link.
