Creating NEW right side template modules

  • Creating NEW right side template modules

Posted 18 years 1 week ago
    • I'm configuring PixelPerfect...

The template defaults with a poll module on the right side. I don't want that. I want to create an "ad block" on the right side and give it a priority of 1. however, the template admin seems to be defaulted to three items (including poll) and three items only.

Is there a way to resolve this?

      Much thanks - KK

    • You can choose the position that you want any module to appear at.
For example, to move the Poll from the Right side to say, the left side simply login the admin backend, from the top menu choose Modules/ Site Modules.
In the Module Manager screen click the module that you want to edit.

In the Module Edit screen you may select where the module appears by setting the Position (see attached image).

      [aside]
In the Module Edit screen Parameters area, you may also choose on which pages to display a module - select multiple pages by holding the Ctrl key down and left clicking each page.
      [/aside]

      I hope that this helps.

    • hey roland,

thanks for weighing in on this...

yes, i understand your instructions. let me ask the question better:

i want to put ad sense code in the right, top, front page body of the template...

the one specifically that's giving me fits is the right side. i simply want to add the ad sense verticle ad code into the right side, and make it the top item (as i'd like to add more ad code blocks under that plus polls.).

in pixelperfect there are references to banners, but i have no idea what it's referring to.

so yeah basically im simply trying to add snippets of ad sense to the template and place it where i want it.

      hope that clarifies things.

      thanks - KK

    • You will have to create a new module and put any ad sense code in the module, then you can position the module as need be and set which page(s) to have it appear on - it may be advisable to first disable your WYSIWYG Editor - to do this, login the Admin backend and choose Site/ User Manager.
Click on your name and choose no default WYSIWYG Editor and click save.

I apologize in advance if this is redundant, but you may find this page useful and the image below.

Just post if you need help - if you need help with PixelPerfect specific issues, i suggest that you post in the PixelPerfect forum.

      Cheers!

You can set the order of a module in the Module Edit screen - use the Module Order drop box.
You can also manually move the modules up and down in the Module Manager by click the blue up or down arrows - see attached image.

    • hey roland,

thanks for the assist. i found the bit that was confusing. pixelperfect only drops down three default positions for right side modules. i simply created a new module, selected right side, then chose poll. go figure...

anyhow...last step and i should get this working: i pasted in the ad sense script/code. i generate the module. i refresh the template, which is showing RAW ADSENSE CODE, not the actual ad sense ads.

sheesh, what now? it's obvious i cant paste in code in the modules and expect a script to work.

      any idea?

If you add code to the Custom Content area of a module and have a WYSIWYG Editor such as TinyMCE enabled, you will have problems most of the time. Do as I advised in my previous post and disable the WYSIWYG Editor and THEN add the code to your module. ;) Works like a charm.

There IS an Edit HTML button in the WYSIWYG Editor menu, however using it does not always work - turning off the WYSIWYG Editor "Clean Code" function may help.

      Happy to help, cheers!

PS: Fyi, the Right position of PixelPerfect can contain more than 3 modules.
