In need of some finality

I am in a situation where I am subjected to using a highly restricted joomla install. I can perform basic administration but i can not install new mambots or modules.
I have been using the vortex template which I love but I really wanted to use the slimbox feature. Whilst I can not find a successful fix in the forums surrounding the vortex theme for the IE error problem it seems to me the thread has gone dead. I have noticed that slimbox is being offered in the new themes.
My questions would be.
Was the slimbox mambot offered the only fix?
Is the slimbox mambot part of the new themes?
Has anyone found a fix for the original?
Without a fix and being unable to install the mambot I am reduced to not being able to use the slimbox feature. I suppose I just want to know if i should give up on this one and comment out the js files in the index.php.

- I don't know why they (an education dept) have restricted this but they have. My efforts to have the mambot installed by them has fallen on deaf ears.

- Not a lot of luck unless you want to edit the template, which you probably don't have access to either. You need to put some javascript on the server and reference it in the template (or at least the page)

This seems like a rights issue.
You must ask them to give you full access to the area you occupy.
That should fix your installation problem.
Which version are you using? 1.12 should work great! - "A new Image for old Idea"

What you have mentioned is possible as I have the access to do something like this. I am just not sure what script I need to use and how to reference it. I can modify the template fully and I have access to the site via ftp (although I can not view the joomla install, only folders and files outside the joomla install)

- The restrictions I work behind are dleiberate and I am not in a position to have them changed. YES...its a rights issue but I have to deal with it. There are reasons there are restrictions in place. Well at least according to them.

In the template directory there should be a directory called js if not create it, and put the slimbox .js files in there.
just download any teplate with slimbox and unzip it to see what I mean.
Then put the script loading tags into the header section of your template. They should look something like this
<script> someDirectoryInfo/mootools.js</script>
<script> someDirectoryInfo/slimbox.js</script>
Again, look in a template with slimbox installed to see specifics.
Then you will need to enter the html into your content to activate the slimbox.
There should be instructions on the demo pages of this site for one of the early slimbox templates. -

Thanks for the reply Daniel. Having a read I am thinking this will not fix my prob as slimbox already works fine on my site, it is only when you try to edit a page using internet explorer that you get an error. It works fine in firefox.
In other words the the js scripts are already in place and the correct script to attract them in the index.php file are there.
If it is a version issue with the slimbox.js file could someone let me know and I will try running up a new slimbox.js file.
