How do i change this little icon to be specific to my site
Posted 18 years 2 days ago
Hello everyone,
How do i change the default joomla symbol that appears on the address section of the Browser to that of my own sites logo.
For example when you go to Rocket themes site:
www.rockettheme.com
, next to that address on the browser, you see a small rocket. How was that changed from the default Joomla's logo?

It is called a favicon.
You can create one at
www.htmlkit.com/services/favicon/
I think the default one is in the images directory in your Joomla install.
You may also need to clear the cache to see the change

Sorry, i thought the problem was solved. I did as was suggested and replaced in /image the old favicon.ico with my new one.
But still the old favicon appears ( of joomla). I have done refresh and even looked at the site from a newly booted PC, with same results.
I was wondering if it is picking up favicon.ico from some other place. So i renamed the favicon.ico to favicon_old.ico , made sure that the permissions are all right, and interesting.... still the joomla symbol appears on the favicon area on the site.
So defenitely, the website is picking up the joomla favicon.ico from some other place. That is wierd.
I looked at the source code of my site, and searched for favicon.ico and it appears at 2 places as
domain.com/images/favicon.ico
So i then put in the Firefox address htt://domain.com/images/favicon.ico and yes, the joomla symbol gets displayed in the body. But if i put
www.domain.com/images/favicon.ico
, then site not found appears.

Problem SOLVED.
I edited the configuration.php and changed the live site entry from
domain.com
to http:www.domain.com and then the correct favicon started to be displayed. ( i still dont know why ).
