Joomla Q: How to create non-menu linked page?

How do I create a "page" Joomla that doesn't have a menu item associated with it--it is reached by clicking a link in a custom module? I still want all the template stuff (header logo, main menu, etc) to be there but I want it reachable only via that link--I don't want to create a menu item.
Case in point: www.montarafog.com/Joomla ; I'm trying to create a link friomn the "Contribute" section to a sort of FAQ page with information on how to submit photos, etc. I know how to do this if i create a new menu item but I'm stuck trying to do it without a menu item--seems like this should be easy!

make the menu item, then go to the page and copy the url. use the new url in your custom module and delete it from the menu.
if you use the JCE editor, it has an 'advanced link editor' or something like that that you can use to insert links to published content items.
