Joomla Q: How to create "unattached" second row of menu?

    • I would like to make a second row of menu items that appear when looking at certain pages, not when you select a certain menu item.

      Case in point: www.montarafog.com/Joomla

Click on the weather menu item. In the middle, at the top, I have four links to NOAA ocean buoys. There links are all wrappers that display the NOAA info within Joomla. It would be nice if once you clicked on one of the buoys if you could quickly jump to the others without having to back-up.

What I would like is for a second row of menu items (links to the four buoy wrapper pages) to appear *only* when you are viewing one of the buoys/wrapper pages. That way you could quickly jump back and forth. But I don't want to see this second row when I'm not on a buoy page.

Any ideas? I tried a few things and I think I'm in the general ballpark but I can't find the solution.

      Thanks!

    • Stick a module position directly under your main menu and put a menu module in it (there are a few on ext.J!.org. Then set the module to only show on certain pages.

Requires some template hacking but certainly possible.

You will see this in the latest template (versatility 3)

Can be done with other templates which have user module positions directly under the main menu. Simply reduce the height of those modules... and only use one of them (in cases where there are more than one eg user1, user2, user3)

I suck at explaining things... but this is your best bet i think.

    • Hmmm, thanks, GollumX. Might be too complicated for me!

Let me check out alternatives to accomplish the same goal...

      Thanks,
