We have not tested Pressflow with our themes, but will do so and see if there are any glaring issues.
If you test it out, send us any issues you may encounter.

Sure I am gonna start testing RT theme Nexus on Pressflow starting today, using Cent OS 5 clean install, apache and varnish reverse proxy.
I will keep posting...

Only work around for these notices is to change the error reporting to log to file not to screen in drupal. That is fine but for every click on site will log all these messages to log file and log files are growing consistently. Maintaining such large log files in production is cumbersome.
Is there any work around to get rid of these notices?

One more update
Since I am playing with live site... I have updated my php.ini error_reporting to E_ALL $ ~E_NOTICE
Which solved the problem with out changing drupal settings.
Over all after installing acp and varnish on pressflow apache bench marks shown huge results. Requests per sec went from 130 to 2400. I am really impressed with pressflow.
Here are the results:
