    Have to Transfer to New Server :(

    • Hey Guys,

      Are there any tricks to transferring Joomla to a new server? I'm hoping that it's as easy as transferring the db and the directory, and it should run fine, right?

    • It's fairly simple. I transfer Joomla sites from my projects server to live client servers. Here's what I do,

      1) Export the database.
      2) Copy off the Joomla directory.
      3) Import the database.
      4) Upload the Joomla directory.
      5) Edit the configuration.php with any server changes, absolute_path, cachepath, db, host, live_site, password, and/or user.

      Haven't had any problems with this method, as of yet. Good luck!
