User Registration Form Problem

I can't believe this could possibly be true but I cannot find a practical way to add categories to the registration form on my syndicate site.
I've basically spent the whole day trying to figure out how to do add fields to my registration page and I can't find anything out there except a couple of instructional youtube tutorials that didn't work (or I'm not getting it).
Could somebody please give me a recommendation I'm doing this for my boss and it needs to be done bye morning and I can't even find anything in JED that looks like it works.
I was told that mootools had an extension but I can't find it. I just need something fast and user friendly (I'm a newbie).
I convinced my boss that Joomla would be the way to go for our site and was told how convenient it is but I'm concerned bye the fact I can't even adjust the registration form.
Any help or recommendations would be great!

All the RT templates use the Joomla core functionality for the registration form.
The template and Joomla are really apples and oranges when it comes to something like this.
If you need to add fields to your your registration form, it's not something you can do through the template, it has to be done through Joomla.
That being said, you'll need to search or post on Joomla for hacking (adding fields) the registration form, or use a 3rd party component.
I suggest going to the JED on joomla.org and searching for 'registration'.

There are many registration components (both free and commercial) that will allow you to customize your form, e.g.,
