    • This is the first time i've ever been to this forum, and noticed how nice it is! Anyone know how I could incorporate an entire forum database like this one into my joomla sites?

    • I just found the component out there (joomlaboard). I'm just so confused, becuase I upload everything to the right places via: FTP, but when I go into the admin panel, none of the new modules or compoents I add show up. It Sucks!

    • This site uses the latest 1.1 RC2 of SMF.

      SMF Integration is not for the faint hearted.
      It can take much tweaking but the end result is worth the effort.

      There is a dedicated board at:
      www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=33.0

      Happy reading!

    • Thank you! I'm going to dig in right away. Any suggestion as to why I can't get any of the modules I install to show up in the admin panel? My PhP Safe Mode is even off ???

    • Could be so many things but it sounds like the module/component etc was not added to the Joomla! DB. Setups normally requires a setup .xml file that registers the item in Joomla! when you upload the compressed archive using the admin tool.

      If you just uploaded the raw files to site without using the admin tool is one reason why it is not showing up.

    • Weird.... all of the modules and components I have do not have XML Setup files. This sucks! I guess my question would be...does anyone have any good resources for nice modules and components?

    • Maybe you misunderstood me.
      Any good component/module has this .xml file.

      When someone creates a module or component the "package" it up in to a archive. When you upload the file Joomla! extracts it looking for a .xml file with the setup instructions contained within like below.

      Here is an example of a popular add-on joomlaXplorer
      <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1" ?>
      <mosinstall type="component">
      &nbsp; &nbsp; <name>joomlaXplorer</name>
      &nbsp; &nbsp; <creationDate>February 2006</creationDate>
      &nbsp; &nbsp; <author>QuiX Project; Soeren Eberhardt</author>
      &nbsp; &nbsp; <copyright>QuiX Project, Adaption for Joomla!: Soeren Eberhardt</copyright>
      &nbsp; &nbsp; <authorEmail>soeren@virtuemart.net</authorEmail>
      &nbsp; &nbsp; <authorUrl>http://developer.joomla.org/sf/projects/joomlaxplorer</authorUrl>
      &nbsp; &nbsp; <version>1.3.3</version>
      I would think joomlaboard uses this approach - it is what makes Joomla! so easy to addon to.

    • Ok, I got it. There was a problem with my install, so I just re-installed everything and it's fine now. I wanted to ask....what would be the eaisest way to set an area on my joomla site to have videos that I created in Camtasia and are hosting on my server? Any idea?
