I am admittedly very new to Joomla so I am probably missing something very basic. I am trying to develop a site based upon the Camber template, so joined the club and downloaded the Camber bundle (rt_camber-bundle.zip) for Joomla 1.7, which is the version I am using.
I thought all I would need to do would be upload/install the bundled zip file using the Extension Manager, like I learned in some tutorials. Everything seemed to go OK with the install but when I tried to check out the template in Template Manger something strange happens.
After clicking on the “rt_camber – Default” in the Template Manger -> Styles page, I seem to leave the administration area and get redirected to my development sites Home page (
mysite.com/joomla/index.php?tp=1&templateStyle=117
) . I see basically my home page with what looks like All the module map positions outlined. What? All the other templates take me to their respective style pages where I can edit their properties. Not so with my first RocketTheme template.
What did I do wrong? I didn’t have Gantry loaded before so I picked the bundle that I thought would include it, but it didn’t seem to. I didn’t’ see any Gantry components or templates, so I went and downloaded the latest version of Gantry and uploaded/installed it using the Extension Manger. Everything said it installed fine but the results are the same. I still get redirected away from the admin site. I do see Gantry now in the Template Manger area, but if I click on it I see essentially the same thing but rather than the Camber logo on my home page I see the Gantry one.
Please help a frustrated newbie with RocketTheme intro.
Rather than just clicking on the template name, inside the Template Manager, to bring up the Template Manager - Edit Style page, like I have done for all the other templates I have demoed and played with, I have to check the check box (inside the Template Manager) of the template in question (in my case either Camber or Gantry) and then click the Edit button at the top.
Not sure why this is the case but it happens on both IE and Firefox and not with any other templates that I have tried so assume it must be a RocketTheme bug.
Hope this helps someone else who finds this issue. I posted a similar reply to similar post that had no replies for several weeks now.
Hope this is not a common response time for this forum.
