Joomla 1.6 Compatibility

I've been away from Joomla for about 18 months. Why are RocketTheme templates mostly listed as 1.5 and 1.7 compatible?
1.5 is too old for the other pieces I need to integrated and 1.7 is too new.
Thoughts? Comments?

There is very little difference from 1.6 to 1.7 (compatibility wise). The only issue for developers I'm aware of is this:
