SMF themes.. No way to get them?

Posted 17 years 9 months ago
    • I see that you guys at one time used to offer club membership for SMF themes, but decided to discontinue it...

I know you guys no longer make new ones, but is there not a way for newcomers to download the preexisting ones? They're still listed on the site, and I take it that it's because the old SMF club members are still able to log in with their accounts and download the existing templates. But are you guys totally shutting the rest of us out from being able to obtain those templates even if we want to buy them?

    • if you really want them i believe andy will sell them to you, but you'd have to accept that the templates come with no official support.

    • I'm really interested in buying one of them in particular... Can someone please tell me how I can get in touch with Andy?

I don't really need any support for it..

    • Ahh thanks James, Now I see how it works..

Unfortunately $30 seems just a tad bit steep for access to only 8 templates that may not work properly with newer versions of SMF..

      Thanks for your help though.

    • $30 for 8 unique SMF themes is very reasonable i.e. $3.75 per theme, come on what else do you want, others charge $20 to $25 per theme plus each RT's SMF themes comes with color variation some just one other three and there are user contributions too.

    • If you are using the Sporticus Joomla! template, there is no better SMF template than the RT version - trust me, they are absolutely fantastic for the Joomla! templates they were desgiend for.

I agree with this completely, not steep in the slightlest like the Joomla! club IMHO.

      ---

The SMF compatibility statement may be confusing. The templates work with 1.1x series such as 1.12 (May have to check the actually SMF page to see the actual details).

However, SMF is developing SMF 2.0 with a beta test in October, so not really complete for a long time. This is exactly the same as Joomla! 1.0x templates not being fully compatible with Joomla! 1.5 templates.

Not sure if Andy would redo a few popular SMF templates to 2.0, but if there is a substantial demand, then I would not see why not.

    • The only reason I have a hard time paying $30 for access to the themes is really because I'm only interested in one in particular. I'd be paying the $30 for access to the themes just to download one of them and I'd probably never use it again.

You guy's have some excellent stuff here but just a wee bit expensive for my taste.. You guys REALLY should consider some sort of an "ala carte" system.. Maybe $15 to purchase an individual theme..
