I sort of recall reading threads on other forums about joomla 1.5 users who had a mature site with many internal menu/article links and then migrated to joomla 1.7, only to have an overwhelming number of those links broken. This obviously would be a costly, time consuming problem to resolve.
It raised the obvious concern. Can anyone say with certainty whether you will get broken links with all migrations?
If it is bound to happen, is there a seamless solution?
This question applies for both a joomla 1.5 and joomla 1.7 migration to the upcoming joomla 2.5.
I tried searching for topics related to this, but I didn't get any results.
the best thing to avoid broken internal links is to disable SEF URLS before you do a migration, disable any kind of additional SEF extension, disable caching and clear cache.
