What is the recommended strategy for upgrading a Joomla 1.5 site, with a RT theme, to Joomla 2.5?
If we upgrade our Joomla 1.5 sites to Joomla 1.7, will our RT themes/extensions break when we use the single-click update feature within 1.7 to upgrade to Joomla 2.5?

- I would recommend until RT team. verify compatibility of all extensions with J 2.5, in addition until the new 2.5 is tested for vulnerability, beta version was released in December but it will probably take a few weeks to test and release the final version. In conclusion I should wait until the RT recommends to do the migration.

Thank you, Rub. I received an email from RT Support today that essentially said the same thing.
Hello, at this time we cannot guarantee that our 1.7 versions will work with 2.5. Our 2.5 products are under development pending a final release of version 2.5 from Joomla. 2.5 is still in beta and until we have upgraded our templates and products to be 2.5 compatible we will not be offering support.

I am glad I found out now - I was about to migrate from 1.5 to 1.7, which could have ended up being a waste of time.

- We decided a while ago to wait until 2.5 was up, running and stable and supported properly by the template and components to hold off on any upgrades. We didn't want to waste our time going from 1.5 > 1.6 > 1.7 and then finally to 2.5, with each of those upgrade steps being a complete pain in the backside.

A few more days before the final release of Joomla 2.5 But again I will wait until RT confirms is safe to migrate to 2.5.

Creating Joomla Websites is not my full time job, ergo migrations can only be done in the evening and at the weekends. So 4 month is a pretty short time for upgrading all of my sites to 2.5. I don't want to waste a lot of time while waiting on updates
