Re: Quite don't understand Module Assignment for this Menu Item
Posted 13 years 4 months ago
Alright I'll give it a WHACK!
In J15 you would create a menu item called "My Neat Item" pointing to some content.
Then you would create a module (mod_something-neat) and give it a Title= "My Neat Module".
Then assign it a position of "to_loadfrom_my_neat_module" because your using a loadposition command in your article to load the module.
Then you would use the Module Assignment box to assign it to "My Neat Item". So when you click "My Neat Item" your content along with the "My Neat Module" module is generated on that page.
Lets say you now create another menu item "Something Cool" pointing to some other content but you wanted to load the "My Neat Module" module on this page too but in your Sidebar..
So SAVE the menu item - open mod_something-neat - then assign it to Sidebar-A - then use the Module Assignment box to assign it to "Something Cool" - and SAVE.
Oh this is a pain in the butt!
OOPS just got worse, we can assign "My Neat Module" to more than menu item but not more than one position. So that means we have to change our position setting also.
Oh this is a REALLY a pain in the butt!
However with J17 when you create the menu item "Something Cool" you will see the "Module Assignment for this Menu Item" dialog. This shows ALL the created modules on the site and which ones are assigned to "Something Cool" which would be none as you just created it.
Once you have it pointing to your content, the module assignment would be ALL done on this screen. Select the "My Neat Module" module and assign it to this item and assign it the position in your Sidebar.
Oh this was much easier
