You can checkout the backup utilities for Joomla. If I remember right someone had mentioned
extensions.joomla.org/component/option,c...nk_id,665/Itemid,35/
as one they'd used.
I personally have moved a couple of sites from one host to another and changed the directory in the process, but I manually edited the mysql dump and joomla configuration files when I did the moves.
