    Gantry issue ...

Posted 12 years 7 months ago
    • I updated Gantry through the update feature of Joomla to 3.2.18 (newest) and it had removed a com-gantry selection under the menu item Components in Joomla. I then attempted to install RokGallery as I was having issues associated with RokGallery, RokSprocket, and RokCommon.

      I got this error

500 - An error has occurred.
The service definition "rokgallery_config" does not exist.

after installing the RokGallery and it was the same error I was getting before. I checked the Discover feature of Joomla and found 2 items. Gantry and RokGallery. I installed both. The install put the com-gantry back in the components menu

Additionally, it did not resolve the RokGallery issue either.

Not sure what is going on but need help. I am not going to attempt to install RokSprocket at this time as I have seen what that does.

      Joomla version is 2.5.3.

    • Hmm.. Bill i'm really not able to recreate these issues your seeing. You should definitely not see a com_gantry component, that is created and then removed as part of the installation process. When i install gantry i don't see that. Maybe at this point can you send me via PM some admin details and i'll take a look. Make sure you have a backup of your site (akeeba or something) in case i mess something up :)

    • I am having a similar issue. I just did a Find Updates in the Joomla Extension Manager. It showed I needed to update Joomla 2.5.3 to Joomla 2.5.4 and update Gantry to 3.2.19. I did both and seemed to work. Now when I go to Discover I see Gantry 3.2.19. I seem to vaguely recall that I've read I shouldn't install Gantry here, so I haven't. However, if Gantry shouldn't be installed here, why does it show up with Discover? What is the expected behavior?

    • This problem is back for me! I have a Gantry item showing up in the discovery feature of the extension manager. If I install I get com-gantry under the component menu.

    • I just installed Metropolis (using RocketLauncher) and updated Joomla and the initial extensions. I now have the "com-gantry" menu item under Components in the Admin interface.
    • Thank you,
      Jason

    • First off, this is really a non-issue. The limitations in Joomla mean we have to remove the gantry component module link from the admin menu when we install. This is because the gantry component does not do anything by itself, but instead, is used instead of com_templates for gantry templates. This lets us do our own layout/ajax/etc. Sometimes, our SQL doesn't get updated to remove the entry in our RocketLaunchers, and the menu shows up. This does no harm of course, as it really doesn't do anything by itself.

If it bothers you however, you can remove it manually by deleting the "com_gantry" entry in the #_menu table in the database. NOTE: delete only this 1 row :)

    • Andy,
It doesn't bother me. I was just posting to advise that it showed up from a RL install.
