Google Analytics Quesion...No Suggestions?

Just a quick question.
I'm using an older version of Joomla 1.5.15 (I don't want to update at the moment because I haven't backed up my website).
I created a google analytics account.
1 - do I have to use both the UA code and the other code <script type="text/javascript">?
2 - I pasted in the <script type="text/javascript"> code in my templates index.php. Is that the correct index.php where I'm supposed to paste in the google stuff?

And a follow-up question...
I pasted the script in the template's index.php. Checked Google Analytics and it looks like it's working.
So, is Google tracking all my pages if the script is in the index.php or just my homepage?
