I have a little problem because I can not remember of figure out how to do that...
I have a menu item in the main menu (vertical) which is only for registered users. And if I select the permission to "registered users" the menu is only visible if the user is logged in. I would like the that the menu item is visible all the time to all the users - after an unregistered user clicks on the menu item i would like to show the YOU NEED TO BE A REGISTERED USER, PLEASE LOGIN page....
There is no easy way to do this. You will have to use plugin or something like that. Not sure though, not quite familiar with 2.5's ACL. BTW posting some more info also might be helpful (joomla version)
Also this question belongs in the joomla forums, not here.
Then why didn't you suggest it? This is you admitting that you voluntarily ignored their post, correct? You have no idea how appreciated a simple "hi, we can't help you" would be. I know, because everything I've ever post on this forum gets ignored without fail. Ignoring your paying customers on a regular basis is not a good way to stay in business.
if every moderator would leave a reply with "hi, we can't help you" whenever he sees a post where he/she is not sure about the solution, then that would be a total mess in the end. and other moderators who may actually know the answer would not even get to see those posts because it's no longer appearing in the 'unanswered posts' query which we mostly use to find threads that need to be addressed. in this case i decided to leave the thread without a reply to leave it open for others who might come with a better idea.
another member (ortix) decided to reply with a suggestion which is always appreciated by us, but not always by the op. that's why i added my reply then.
