    Colour selection and harmony?

    • Andy,

Your templates show you have a real flair for harmonizing and blending the gradients, images and colours you use. In particular, the six header images used in the last two templates, ‘Fire’ and ‘Technopia’.

Is this basic colour theory and experience or are there specific techniques that you apply? For example do you select an image and create a colour pallet using it? or is the template created first and then a suitable image selected?

I appreciate this information may be a closely guarded secret but I thought I’d ask just in case you had any tips.

    • Actually you have discovered by trick. I find that the best color palettes occur in nature, or at least in the real world. I like to find an image and then sample colors from that image to buld my color palettes. Some of the hard works is done for you that way, but it does still take some skill/experience/luck to pick the right colors from the image so they compliment each other.

    • Thanks for sharing that Andy.

For those wanting a little help with colour selection another tool I've found is: color wheel pro
      www.color-wheel-pro.com

There's a nice section on their site to do with colour meaning i.e.

Dark red is associated with vigor, willpower, rage, anger, leadership, courage, longing, malice, and wrath.
Brown suggests stability and denotes masculine qualities.
