You may be discussing this on one of the member forums, but I presently do not have a subscription, so I ask here…
With Adobe’s recent announcement about not planning further feature development for Fireworks, I am wondering how Rocket Theme will respond.
Certainly, Fireworks will continue to work on existing platforms and Adobe has indicated that they will make it available as part of the Creative Cloud. Adobe has also said they plan to update Fireworks to support the next major releases of both Mac OS X and Windows. However, it looks like they want to bring this program to end of life and steer users to other Adobe software.
Andy, are you and your team moving to another graphics program for Rocket Theme editing?

Yah, this is pretty disappointing on the part of Adobe, although it's hardly a surprise. Fireworks has been pushed to the back corner of Adobe's kingdom for some time even though Fireworks is a fantastic product with a specific purpose, web design. Adobe thinks that Photoshop should be the answer for any designer's needs whether that's Print, Photo-Editing, or Web Design.
Anyway, this really doesn't effect us as much as it would of once done. First we have been doing our designs in Photoshop for quite some time, and we convert these into CSS3 for our templates. The vast majority of template customization can be achieved via merely editing Gantry settings, or at worse, editing some LESS/CSS. There are a few things that remain images, and those we continue to convert into Fireworks PNGs because that's what we've provided for so long.
In the future we'll probably just offer these limited images in PSD format, as what other choice do we have left? There's not a whole lot of cross-platform, layer-supporting-formats left out there.

They killed Fireworks! You Bastards!
I'm seriously disappointed by this news. I've been using Fireworks since before Adobe acquired it. As Andy says above, it serves a very specific purpose. I use Photoshop all the time for PHOTOS! I use illustrator from time to time for editing ILLUSTRATIONS! Fireworks is for creating web specific vector graphics - it's the Baby Bear Porridge for web designers.
I don't have anything against their new model, and it's fine if they want to create a more cohesive product suite (they can start by making consistent keyboard shortcuts)...
But I'll use my CS5 copy of Fireworks until it's dust. It loads in half the time of photoshop, it's already formatted for web use, and it does everything I need. - Show Support for These Requests...

I am not a professional photographer (at this point in time at least). I would use Photoshop only occasionally as most of my photo editing is taken care of in Lightroom. I don't have need for any of their other apps, so none of their licensing plans fit my current needs. And, their new licensing pricing plans definitely do not fit my current financial situation.
In light of this, I am not at all happy with the way Adobe has decided to go other than to give a sigh of relief in that Lightroom will remain a program that can be purchased individually.
And Andy... thanks for your response to my question above.
