RokCommon and Gantry Errors

    • Hey everyone,

My site was working fine a month ago, and now all of a sudden it has stopped functioning and all I get is a white screen of death for the frontend and backend. I have not done anything to the site to have made this happen so I am not sure what happened to cause it. I have no access to administrator. Also I should say I am a bit of a noob when it comes to php, but here is what I have done so far.

      1. I added the following code to index.php in root
      error_reporting(E_ALL);
      ini_set('display_errors',TRUE);

After I did this, my index.php displayed the following error
Fatal error: Class 'phpQueryPlugins' not found in /home/mysite/public_html/libraries/rokcommon/functions.php on line 93

      2. I followed Kat05's steps here to disable rokcommon plugin & lib_rokcommon through phpMyadmin:
      http://www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=597&t=159672&p=785492&hilit=rokcommon%20database&rb_v=viewtopic#p785492

After following her instructions i get a giant list of almost 100 errors and I should mention that even with both rokcommon and lib_rokcommon disabled the original error still shows.

      3. I start disabling the other plugins that are displaying errors (RokGallery and RokCandy). Now I have reduced to about 85 errors.

All of the errors are "Strict Standards" and relate to Gantry, except for the first "Fatal error" that still remains even with the associated plugin/library disabled.

I have no idea what to do next? Any help is appreciated. I did not want to post all the errors here as it is still a very long list, but I will if requested. Don't I need gantry in order for the site to run? Should I start disabling anything associated with Gantry?

You can view the remaining errors here http://www.estatepropertyservice.com/index.php

      - Joomla 2.5
      - PHP Built on Linux
      - DB Version 5.1.68-cl
      - DB Collation utf8_general_ci
      - PHP Version 5.4.14
      - apache2handler

The original template install was rocketlauncher 2.5 with Clarion

    • I certainly can, eh! Hahaha. Thanks for the quick reply DanG. I have PM'd you FTP access, however I have no access to administrator so I can't give you that.

      DOH!
Okay tried the supplied creds and they didn't work. Please include the exact FTP URL.

Also lets try a different approach, most of the time changing the template back to the default Joomla will allow access back to the admin backend.
So start your PhpMyAdmin and go to your YOUR_PREFIX_template_styles and then edit the template field -> rt_clarion so that the home is 0.
Then edit the template field -> beez_20 so that the home is 1.
This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

If somehow the Clarion template has gotten borked, then at least this will give admin access and we can go from there.

    • Hi DanG - I have sent you the exact url in a PM. Thanks again.

So I have changed the template style to Beez2 through phpMyadmin. It only produced a few errors (not the 80plus that gantry was throwing). I have disabled the other extensions where showing in the errors on beez2 template. Now no errors are displaying, however the template is not showing properly and there is no functionality to it. Also, the administrator is not displaying anything either :-(

Any other ideas / suggestions to try?

    • Hi Steve
You have admin access again, and that's it for the good news - the rest is bad from here :(
Not sure how you managed to install a J1.5 Gantry onto your J2.5 site but that killed everything

I managed to get a newer version on which allowed access to the Admin page again.
However your going to have continuing issues with file ownership as your server is running as Apache2Handler. Unless your a server guru, for Joomla installations Apache running under CGI/FCGI is preferred.
Ask your host to switch over your account and then start backing up and updating.

Seems very ironic that your running J2.5.4 on PHP 5.4 - OUCH!

    • Thank you for all your help DanG! I will have to follow-up with the other individual that has access to the admin because there is no way that the update function of Joomla admin would have suggested that version right? He must have tried a manual update...

I will also speak to my host to switch from Apache2Handler to CGI/FCGI asap. Question - if I switch to CGI/FCGI will this affect the other Joomla sites hosted on the account? If all sites on the account are Joomla using Apache2Handler will they break with the switch?

I'm sure at this point you can tell that I really am a noob  - why is it ironic that I'm running J2.5.4 on PHP 5.4?

Probably because you're running an outdated Joomla version but running the latest PHP version.

How much memory does your new server allot to you -> Admin -> Site -> System Information -> PHP Information -> Core -> memory_limit

It should be a minimum of 64Kb.

Time to create page: 0.063 seconds
