My question is not template specific as I've had this same confusion in all Joomla templates. I am using the Leviathan template and want to have a sort of a blog post in the area that is occupied by the "Top Template Of The Year" (TTOTY) article.
Creating a new article with the exact same settings doesn't replace the TTOTY article, but instead adds pagination at the bottom of my home page. Why doesn't it replace it since it's newer?
If I turn off the featured status of TTOTY, it disappears but then my new post isn't visible either?
Finally, short of installing a blogging component, what's the easiest way to have a blog post on the front page of Leviathan or any RT template for that matter?
*EDIT As is the case 99% of the time when I post a question on here, I have figured it out myself after revisting the issue with a clearer head. I guess venting my frustration helps me think more clearly.
Anyway, the issue is resolved by opening the mainmenu/home link item and changing the article order to most recent first instead of oldest first.

- Leviathan template uses Featured articles menu item for the Home page. By default that menu item is configured to show on Full article and one Intro article so in the end, yu will have two articles visible at the same time. You can edit Home page menu item and change "# Intro Articles" parameter and change it's value to 0. That will give you possibility to show only one article (which ever is marked as Featured in article manager)
