    SOLVED Question: Rockettheme / Joomla update 2.5 to 3.1

    • If I build a Joomla 2.5 site, get it all working with multiple Rockettheme software titles and then upgrade Joomla from 2.5 to 3.1, will all the RT functionality and formatting remain intact in the new Joomla 3.1? I am using Cerulean, RokGallery and other RT software.

      I am trying to determine the best way to get my Joomla 1.5 site to Joomla 3.1.

      If I migrate the 1.5 site to 2.5 and then develop the 2.5 site (making sure all extensions are 3.1 ready) and then upgrade Joomla to 3.1, this should work, right?

      My site is very established with active Kunena forums, JomSocial and EasyBlog and I'm trying to avoid unnecessary downtime. JomSocial requires a very specific path to get to Joomla 3.1 and they strongly suggest using the Joomla 2.5 to 3.1 upgrade package.

      Yeah, I bought SP Upgrade a while back and have used it with great success multiple times. Great product!

      The only issue I have is that JomSocial is stating that it is required to follow a very strict upgrade process going from 2.5 to 3.1. They claim it's required to uninstall ALL 3rd party software (database tables staying intact), then use the Joomla 2.5 to 3.1 upgrade package, then reinstall all 3rd party software. Interesting, huh?

      I just wanted to see if anyone knew of any issues with Rockettheme software being upgraded in this manner.

      Ummm...??? I don't know :oops:
      When you un-install any extension such as ones that use modules, the extension ID, module ID and module_menu ID will also be removed. So their process would give you a clean template with only their extension existing before you upgrade. So I don't know about this statement then
      (database tables staying intact)

      I would do a test on a subfolder not following that advice and just see what happens.

      I've migrated sites that have Rockettheme extensions and never had an issue.

    • Thanks Dan. That's good advice. I didn't think there would be any issues with Rockettheme products but wanted to make sure.
